About RockinDachs
Meet the Homestead
Hello — I’m Shawnee Davis, the heart and hands behind RockinDachs.
My love for Miniature Dachshunds started early. A neighbor’s dog, all boldness and personality in a long low frame, made an impression I never shook. But the deeper foundation came from growing up on a working ranch, where animal husbandry was simply part of daily life — dogs, goats, horses, the full rhythm of caring for living things from the ground up. You learn something about animals when they are not a hobby but a responsibility. That upbringing shaped how I think about health, structure, temperament, and the weight of getting it right.
I came up learning responsible breeding practices alongside experienced hands, building a respect for the craft and the ethical obligations that come with it. My faith has always anchored that — a commitment to integrity, compassion, and doing right by every dog and every family we work with.
RockinDachs officially opened its own chapter in 2014. The goal has always been simple: to produce stable, genetically sound Miniature Dachshunds and support the families who bring them home. Not novelty. Not trend chasing. The integrity of the breed, full stop.
The Homestead
Our primary home base is Toquerville, Utah — Washington County — where the program runs out of a working family homestead. A trusted co-breeder, Tammy, operates a secondary location in Onalaska, Washington, ensuring every litter receives constant, focused attention from dedicated hands.
This is not a commercial facility. It is a real working property, and that distinction shapes everything.
The RockinDachs Standard
Rock-Solid Health Protocols
Preventative care begins at two weeks. Deworming, vaccinations, and biosecurity protocols are non-negotiable from the first day of life. We are committed to the lifetime health of every dog we produce.
Genetic Soundness
All breeding dogs undergo Embark DNA testing. OFA and Embark results are shared with enrolled families at the Compatibility Evaluation — before any commitment is finalized.
The Homestead Environment
Every prospect is raised on our working homestead — a dedicated quarter-acre where the dogs live, work, and grow under constant human hands. This is not a commercial facility. It is a real working property, and the care that happens here is as deliberate as the landscape is honest.
The 4-Point Evaluation
At seven weeks, every prospect receives a professional hands-on evaluation across four pillars: Connection, Compliance, Confidence, and Drive. This evaluation — not family preference — determines the match. It is the most important thing we do.
The Fire Tiers
Our Spark, Flicker, Flame, and Lantern tiers reflect real developmental milestones. Every tier represents a foundation that was genuinely built — not a price point that was assigned.
Unwavering Character
We breed for intelligence, stability, and loyalty. A RockinDachs prospect should be ready for family life — not a project that requires years of remediation.
Lifelong Commitment
We take our dogs back for life, no questions asked. Every Companion Parent receives access to the Legacy Lounge — our private community for ongoing guidance and support.
