We do not allow families to select a puppy purely based on appearance at a young age. A puppy's true character is not reliably apparent until around seven weeks. By delaying selection, we eliminate guesswork and replace it with a science-backed assessment.
We focus on personality first, ensuring that the high-drive puppy goes to an active home, and the sensitive soul finds a quiet lap.
This hands-on evaluation, conducted when the puppies are approximately seven weeks old, is the cornerstone of our placement process. We assess four key pillars of personality:
Confidence & Resilience: How the puppy reacts to startling sounds, new environments, and gentle handling. This predicts how well they will adapt to life's changes.
Energy & Focus (The "Off Switch"): Observing their activity level, motivation for play/food, and, crucially, their ability to settle down and relax. This ensures a high-energy pup doesn't go to a quiet home.
Sociability & Affection: Assessing their desire for human interaction and their comfort level around new people. This determines their likely behavior toward visitors and children.
Problem-Solving: Watching how the puppy handles simple obstacles or novelty. This indicates intelligence, independence, and trainability.
Once the assessments are complete, we guide our enrolled families through the placement process:
Profile Creation: We create detailed, honest profiles for each puppy, outlining their specific temperament traits and energy levels observed during the assessment.
Legacy List Priority: Members of the Legacy List receive these profiles first. Based on the information you provided in your Legacy Home Application, we advise you on the puppy or puppies that would best suit your lifestyle.
Final Reservation: The Legacy Reservation is secured once you confirm your choice.
