It's a sad day here at RockinDachs. Last night after a long battle we lost two of Ajah's boys to fading puppy syndrome (similar to SIDS in people). We aren't sure what triggered them to fade as it could have been caused by any number of things. Sometimes puppies just give up on life without any rhyme or reason, sometimes it's environmental, sometimes there is an undetected health issue (things like congenital heart issues, neurological issues, or the puppy has underdeveloped organs), and sometimes it's related to the mother (inattentiveness, lack of milk, lack of nutrients in the milk, etc.). We will be evaluating the situation over the next few days.

The remaining boy and the little girl are doing well and are being monitored carefully. Right now they are strong and nursing good. Ajah is an attentive mother to the remaining puppies: keeping them warm, clean, and fed.
