More about Cumin
Status: Available to claim | Placement: $1,200 | Location: Toquerville, Utah
Cumin is a Shaded Cream Soft Wire who has been with us on the Homestead his whole life. He is deeply devoted to his people, playful, and high drive. He is also a dog who needs the right home, and we would rather tell you exactly who he is than have you find out later.
Cumin has a bite history. It has happened when he was introduced to someone improperly, and so far only with men. Because of his high drive, we consider it a possibility with anyone who skips a proper introduction. Once he has been introduced the right way, he is fine with that person from then on, even when time has passed since he last saw them. He does well with children after a proper introduction and adores my toddler and my two school-age nieces.
Cumin will not be placed in a home with another male dog. He has had fights with male dogs, mostly with his intact brother when females were in heat, and also with one of the neutered males here. He breaks off as long as the other dog is willing to walk away, and he can go on living alongside a dog he has fought with, but the tension between them stays. Any dog he shares a home with needs to be female.
He guards his food from other dogs. He has no problem with me touching or moving his food, so this is a dog-to-dog matter. He is more likely to share with a female companion, as long as she is not a resource guarder herself.
Cumin is excellent in the crate. He will need potty training in his new home.
He has completed his full puppy vaccine series and still needs his rabies vaccine. He is intact, in keeping with our program's delayed spay and neuter practice.
Cumin's behavioral history is provided in writing and acknowledged by signature before placement. We will walk his family through exactly how we introduce him to new people.
